A 32-year-old woman presented to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department with a 3-week history of progressively enlarging, painful swelling in the left vulvar region, causing difficulty in walking and sitting, along with fever but no other systemic symptoms. Her medical history was unremarkable, with no prior episodes of Bartholin cysts or sexually transmitted infections. An ultrasound, confirmed the presence of a fluid-filled cyst measuring about 4cm, ruling out solid masses or abscess formation. The patient underwent marsupialization under local anesthesia. The procedure involved making an incision to drain the cyst, suturing the cyst wall to the skin to create a permanent opening, followed by saline irrigation and application of antibiotic ointment to prevent infection. The patient was given intravenous antibiotics (Inj. Zonamax 1.5g BD) pre- and post-operatively, followed by oral antibiotics (amoxicillin-clavulanate). The patient was discharged with oral antibiotics, pain relievers, topical ointments, and instructions for perineal hygiene and sitz baths. The patient recovered without complications, and no recurrence was noted at the 2-week follow-up. Marsupialization proved to be an effective and minimally invasive treatment for the Bartholin cyst, offering relief and preventing recurrence.

The histological evolution of hard tissues, such as bone is a complex process that requires careful consideration of tissue preparation and sectioning techniques. The integrity of both soft and hard tissues must be preserved to enable accurate histochemical evaluation, making fixation a crucial initial step. Decalcification followed by paraffin embedding and freezing or plastic embedding are common approaches used to prepare hard tissues for histological analysis. this study compares the preparation method of ground, decalcification and resin embedded sections of human bone to determine the most widely accepted and efficient approaches for studying bone histology. The findings of this review will inform the development of standardized protocols for the histological evolution of hard tissues, ultimately enhancing our understanding of cellular and subcellular architecture and activities in these complex tissues. This review examines the challenges of working with bone containing specimens, including the mixing of bone and soft tissue and the need for uniform softening or hardening of the tissue to facilitate sectioning.

Spiritual tourism in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand has historically been a major driver of economic and cultural activity, attracting pilgrims, spiritual seekers, and wellness tourists. The region, home to significant pilgrimage sites such as Jageshwar Dham, Kasar Devi, Patal Bhuvaneshwar, and various meditation retreats, witnessed steady growth in tourism before the COVID-19 pandemic. The influx of domestic and international visitors contributed to local employment, infrastructure development, and the expansion of hospitality and service industries. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020 brought unprecedented disruptions, leading to lockdowns, travel restrictions, and the temporary closure of religious sites. As a result, spiritual tourism in Kumaon suffered a sharp decline, affecting local businesses, temple revenues, and the livelihoods of those dependent on tourism. This study provides a comparative analysis of the pre- and post-COVID-19 landscape of spiritual tourism in Kumaon. It examines key economic indicators, visitor trends, and changes in tourism dynamics over time. The research highlights how the pandemic accelerated shifts in traveler behavior, with a growing focus on sustainable tourism, wellness experiences, and digital pilgrimage alternatives. Additionally, the study explores how local communities, religious institutions, and the government have worked towards reviving the sector through improved infrastructure, health and safety measures, and promotional campaigns. By analyzing these changes, the study aims to provide insights into the resilience of spiritual tourism in Kumaon and suggest strategies for sustainable growth in the post-pandemic world. The findings will be valuable for policymakers, tourism stakeholders, and researchers studying the evolving nature of religious and spiritual tourism in India.
